John E. Baker, MD
Orthopedic Surgeon in Delray Beach & Boca Raton, FL
Dr. John Baker specializes in sports medicine, shoulder and knee injuries, arthroscopic surgery, and total joint replacement.
Dr. Baker received his early medical education in the US Navy before earning a bachelor of science from the University of Nevada–Las Vegas. He earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine, graduating in the top ten of his class, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Baker returned to the US Navy and served as a commander until his departure with honorable discharge into private practice in 2006. He is currently a member of the American Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Baker is one of the only providers in the area using patient-specific instruments (PSI) for knee joint replacement. PSI combines advancements in instrument technology with proven orthopedic alignment principles to help ensure a patient’s successful recovery. These proven, custom-positioned implants are such a success that patients are more comfortable and feel more like themselves in less time.
Dr. Baker has received multiple awards for outstanding care, professionalism, and honor. He is affiliated with several local hospitals and surgery centers.
Gary Edman, PA-C
Physician Assistant
Gary is a certified physician assistant for Dr. Baker. He joined Allegiance Orthopedic in 2014, bringing years of experience taking care of patients in various settings, including outpatient surgery and emergency care.
Gary has a bachelor's degree in microbiology and a master's degree in biomedical science. He earned his certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in 2011 after graduating from Miami-Dade College in Miami, Florida. He also worked as a certified EMT and paramedic in Florida prior to becoming a physician assistant.
